Strengthening the healthcare sector in the state: BIOPRO Baden-Württemberg networks itself strategically at a European level
As a state agency, BIOPRO Baden-Württemberg has been supporting Baden-Württemberg as a healthcare location for many years and provides important incentives for its further development. In doing so, BIOPRO relies on a strong network of partners, clusters and experts. The state agency has been a member of the Council of European Bioregions (CEBR) network since April 2024. Within the CEBR, BIOPRO aims to network with European cooperation partners in order to provide even better support for the innovative function of companies in the healthcare industry in Baden-Württemberg.
Whether it is about knowledge transfer, the cooperation between bioscience clusters in Europe or supporting sustainable growth for small and medium-sized enterprises - strategic national and international partnerships are of great importance in order to create a competitive Europe in the global healthcare industry. This is why BIOPRO Baden-Württemberg, as a state agency, has long been networked with clusters, research and development institutions as well as start-ups and companies in the state via LinkHealth@BW, is involved throughout Germany in the BioRegions working group and has now been a member of the Council of European Bioregions (CEBR) network since April 2024.
The CEBR which is a member-supported network of life science clusters and regional ecosystems from across Europe, is represented by over 45 members and hundreds of cluster partners from around the world. Furthermore, the CEBR represents and supports numerous small and medium-sized companies as well as hundreds of universities and research centres.
"The healthcare industry is very international. With its mission to promote knowledge transfer and collaboration between bioscience clusters and ecosystems in Europe and to support the sustainable growth of SMEs, the CEBR is ideally suited to BIOPRO's goals of creating a strong Baden-Württemberg in a competitive Europe," explains Dr Barbara Jonischkeit, Head of Innovation and Communication at BIOPRO Baden-Württemberg. BIOPRO will use its membership of the CEBR to network specifically with European clusters and partners whose technology profile complements that of Baden-Württemberg in order to provide even better support for the innovative capacity of companies in the healthcare industry. "We are very much looking forward to the future exchange in the CEBR network. BIOPRO is already working closely with the clusters and networks at state level - via the LinkHealth@BW project - and also at federal level as a member of the BioRegions working group," says Dr Barbara Jonischkeit. "Because together we are stronger."
With new findings and new projects from the Council of European Bioregions, BIOPRO aims to strengthen its international position and further push Baden-Württemberg to be a health centre with international appeal.
