Medical Devices are a strong driver of healthcare innovation. Both Germany and the United Kingdom (UK) are attractive markets for medical technology companies: with Germany being the biggest and the UK the third biggest market in Europe with market shares of 25.6% and 12.1% (2020)1.

Dr. Linda Magee, Health Innovation and NHS Specialist at the Department of International trade, will give an overview on the National Health System (NHS) in the United Kingdom and how medical devices may be introduced and sold to the NHS in her talk "UK Healthcare innovation and how to access the NHS: partnership and process". Michael Weißer, CEO of AiM GmbH - Assessment in Medicine, Research and Consulting, will introduce the german health system in his talk “Health Care and Reimbursement System in Germany: Opportunities for Medical Devices”.
Additionally a talk by Prof. David Lowe (SHIP, Clinical Lead for Innovation West Scotland NHS GGC) and James Blackwood (iCAIRD CTO & NHS Programme Manager, AI Lead at Scottish Health and Industry Partnership), will present the Scottish Health & Industry Partnership which is aimed towards strengthening Scotland’s innovation activities in health and social care in order to solve real problems and improve quality, efficiency and sustainability of healthcare.
